An Emotional Reading for My Childhood Best Friend’s Sister: Remembering Toni

An Emotional Reading for My Childhood Best Friend’s Sister: Remembering Toni

When I opened my free readings again, the first person to book was someone I really wasn’t expecting.

It was Danielle. Her sister, Toni, was my best friend at primary school. 💜

Before the meeting had even happened, I knew this one would feel different for me. There was my own connection to Toni, all those childhood memories, and the knowledge that I would be sitting with her sister, who had lost someone so precious to her.

I’ve taken my time finding the words for this because I want to share it with the care it deserves. This wasn’t simply a reading I wanted to tell people about. It was a deeply emotional meeting, and one I feel incredibly honoured to have been part of.

Toni Was Part of My Childhood

Toni and I hadn’t spoken much since we left school in 2004.

But when someone has been your best friend as a child, there are memories of them that stay with you, even when you haven’t spoken for years. You remember being together, the things you got up to, and a time in your life that they’ll always be part of.

Years ago, Toni had an accident that left her paralysed from the neck down. She passed away relatively recently.

I don’t want this piece to be only about what happened to her, because she was my friend, and I have memories of her from long before that. During this meeting, those memories were there alongside the sadness of knowing we hadn’t kept in touch.

When You Know the Person You’re Reading For

It can be difficult to explain what it feels like to do a reading when you know the people involved.

In some ways, that familiarity can make it feel easier. In others, it makes it harder, because you have your own emotions and memories to be mindful of. There are things you already know, and it’s important to be honest about that.

I knew Toni as my childhood friend. I wasn’t coming into this meeting without any connection to her, and I wouldn’t want to present it that way.

But I was also there for Danielle. I wanted to give her the same care, attention and honesty I would give anyone who trusted me with a meeting.

It was both familiar and emotional in a way I hadn’t experienced quite like this before.

It Felt Like Toni Was There With Us

Toni was amazing at getting things across to me, and Danielle was able to understand what was being shared.

For me, it genuinely felt like Toni was right there with us.

There were so many tears. I was moved by what was happening in the meeting, but I also had my own feelings coming up. Memories of us as children, and guilt about not keeping in touch.

I wished I’d been a better friend over the years. I wished I’d stayed in contact.

That’s not an easy thing to admit, but it was part of what I felt, and I don’t want to write about this as though I wasn’t affected too.

At the same time, I don’t want my feelings to take away from what this meeting meant for Danielle. It was an honour to sit with her, to share what I was receiving, and to remember her sister together.

We Laughed Too

Among the tears, there was laughter.

I told Danielle a funny story about something Toni and I got up to when we were younger. One of those childhood memories that comes back and makes you laugh all over again.

I’ve edited that part out of the video because, even after all these years, I still don’t want to get either of us into trouble.

Some things are staying between us, Toni. ❤️

I’m so glad we had that laugh. This was an emotional meeting, but there was room to remember the funny things too. I could talk about my friend as I remembered her, and share a little of that part of her life with her sister.

About the Video

As always, the videos I share are edited. What you see isn’t the whole meeting.

There were conversations, memories, tears and moments of laughter beyond what’s included in the video. And, as I’ve already admitted, at least one childhood story that I’m keeping out of public view.

I hope that, when you watch, you’ll do so with kindness and respect for Danielle, for Toni, and for everyone who loves her. These are real people and real feelings, and sharing part of a meeting doesn’t make it any less personal.

A Thank You to Danielle and Toni

Danielle, thank you for trusting me with something so precious.

I hadn’t expected your booking, and I couldn’t have known just how much this meeting would mean to me. Being able to sit with you, share what came through and talk about memories of your sister was something I’m incredibly grateful for.

And Toni, thank you.

For everything you shared with us during the meeting. For the tears and the laughter. And for the memories of two little girls who had no idea that, all these years later, I’d be sitting with your sister remembering what we got up to.

I wish we’d kept in touch. I’m so grateful we were friends.

You’ll always be part of my childhood, and I’ll remember you with so much love. 💜
